This week’s author spotlight is on, Kimberly Davis-Peters. As a mother of a young Black daughter, author Kimberly Davis-Peters realized how most children’s books lacked diversity. Wanting a different experience from her own growing up for her daughter Ellie, Kimberly utilized a common occurrence for parents as inspiration for her debut children’s book, “Ellie & The Rainy Day.” What could have been another boring rainy day indoors turned into a fun and creative experience for Kimberly and Ellie.
After the success of “Ellie & The Rainy Day,” Kimberly decided to create more books with young Black and Brown children as the intended audience. From there ‘Cocoa, Tea & Honey’ was born!
In this episode, we honed in on diversity, friendship and acceptance.
