• Educational (like any DIY kit, kids and parents can work as a team to get this built..not to mention its mechanical which makes it even cooler)
• Simple to set up (just pop the pre cutout pieces and then assembly (no glue, cutting, or any tools required)
• Simple solar energy (all you need is a strong light or the sun to get this mill spinning)
• Not too delicate ( a lot of times these kits are so delicate you can’t touch the final product. The wood is thick/sturdy enough to be handled)
Suggestions:
• As others mentioned the directions could use some work…not that you couldn’t figure it out just on your own but they are confusing… I had to redo a couple steps because the pictures didn’t seem to be in the right order or explain exactly where a piece should go
• I would say 7+ on the age group here. The pieces are small and could be a choking hazard
• At first, I thought mine wasn’t working because it was by the window…this needs direct sunlight or a strong light over it to get it working
The Bottom Line:
This is a true educational piece to have any child/adult to assemble. Learn about solar energy and how a simple wind/water mill can be operated. The final product is “cool” looking and any kid would love it. I have it in my office by the window and it complements my other window models/accessories that rotate, spin etc… I give it 5 starts and recommend that you give this a try. Hope this helps you make your decision..check the video!
